Glass casting with William Rudolph Faulkner

  • Campus Idar-Oberstein Vollmersbachstraße 53a 55743 Idar-Oberstein Germany (map)

This class will give an introduction to the processes involved in making small scale glass castings.  We will learn how to use clay, wax and plaster to make original designs that will give way to the lost wax method of mold making.  Then, self made objects or molds taken from found objects can be directly translated into glass.  Multiple approaches and techniques will be demonstrated in this course that will allow you to move from idea to object.  This is an entry level course, so no experience is necessary.  It would be good to come with some ideas in mind and a sketchbook or small objects of interest.  All ideas are welcome, but due to the size of our kiln we will need to stay within a smaller size limit.
